On my 2016 bucket-list I wanted to see every scenic place in Arkansas. I certainly haven't accomplished this completely but this weekend I was able to cross one of those places off my list!
So Sunday night our sweet friends, the Tolleson Family, invited us over for the night so we could all go to the Caddo River on Memorial Day.
Mother and I got a canoe and I am very pleased to say, although there were some close calls, we did not flip over once! Nope. There was actually a point when we were going through a rapid and weren't able to steer it good just yet and we ran straight into a rock. Like a massive rock, and it threw mom forward in our boat. We about died laughing for a good 20 minutes after that.
So a fun, short canoe ride and a bad sun burn later- Monday became the beginning of my adventurous summer ahead.
Next stop? Who knows! But I'll be sure to take you all along for the ride.
For those of you who do not know, at the beginning of the year I created a bucket list of things to achieve in 2017. I don't care about going in any specific order, so I decided to jump down to #29- Get Another Tattoo.
This tattoo is one that I have been thinking about for a long time now, but I wasn't sure how to really do it. My Aunt Nevie passed away from colon cancer a couple of years ago, and I always wanted my first tattoo be represent her or something about her. I've mentally created multiple tattoos but I never could stick to them until I just decided to get one thing to just be a symbol. But what does a moon have to do with my Aunt?
Once when I was in high school my mother was talking to my Uncle. She handed the phone off to me, and then I somehow got to talk with my Aunt. Her cancer had come back and it was in full force. She hadn't been in the mood to really talk with people at the time, but this day she wanted to talk with me. I honestly have no idea what our conversation even consisted of or how long it was, but I can vividly remember the end of our conversation. I was telling her I loved her and she told me, "I love you to the moon and back". Afterwards I remember just bawling my eyes out because it felt like she was saying goodbye and I wasn't ready. Little did I know she would have gotten worse, and soon the family was called in. On August 24, 2013 Aunt Nevie went to heaven and I've never cherished words more in my life. I got the opportunity to say goodbye, and she gave it to me.
So, this one's for you Aunt Nevie.
At the beginning of 2017 I created a bucket list that I am trying to accomplish by the end of the year. One of them was to take Polaroids of all the people I adore. I've started getting quite a few so I was thinking, why not share them with you all!
These two ladies have been beside me through so much. Their hearts for the people of YA are what makes the group the way it is. I call Lauren our YA Momma, because of this huge love she has for every single person that has walked into her home. Kaitlin has such a gift for being organized and that ability really helps the YA group stay on task and involved in outreaches. These ladies are simply amazing in a multitude of things.
Each and every single one of these people are an answered prayer in not only my life but the lives of others. If you happen to see them around, give them a high-five and tell them how much you love & appreciate them. Next week I'll have even more lovely people in my life to share with you all.
Truth be told, I am still not entirely sure what my word to pray over my year will be just yet. I am awaiting God's response on that. However, I figured I would just put together a bucket list of things that I want to do in this new year of 2017. Truth be told I have always wanted to live a life of adventure, but have always been the catious & safe 'mom' like person. So I am thinking this year I will let go of the idea that I can't do these things and just go for it. Anyone want to join in on a few?
I'll be sure to write about each adventure extensively and take as many photos as I can remember to take.
The only thing now is to decide which one to do first!
I am so glad you stopped by. I cannot wait to hear from you!
