It's no surprise that once you get engaged everyone wants to hear how it all went down. It's a story I love to share, but am finding that I am a much better writer then story teller. (Just trust me on this statement, okay?) So I figured I would type it up for those of you who have been curious!
I was a little curious as to why we were making a stop here, but knowing that Jon is an adventurer I figured he found out about it and wanted to see it for himself. After using their restrooms (which had pluming and were very clean. PTL!) we started stretching out our legs as we walked the trail towards all the gigantic rocks.
Looking at this place, it is like God was just playing with pebbles and sprinkled them all over the place- except they are the biggest rocks I have ever seen.
So, as we were walking I noticed a rock off the path that looked like it had a seat like indent in it and jokingly told him he should sit in it so I could take a picture. He deflected this and instead had me sit up there. (This is very typical Jon behavior because he hates taking photos, but will do them for me occasionally.) I hand him my phone and get myself situated, trying to not slide into the water puddle, and fix my shirt. As I look up Jon starts by saying that he loves me, and the way he said this made my heart just about stop. Before it could beat again he was already getting down on his knee, and I am almost certain my heart started working overtime. We have talked about our future plenty of times before, and we knew we wanted to be married to one another, but to actually have him ask me? It is a feeling I can not explain. It was just Jon, Myself, and that rock- our rock- and it was beautiful.
Turns out, there was no retirement party, but on Saturday we were going to take some engagement photos along with some Brekken Family photos. (So I suppose those nice clothes came in handy) I am telling you what, the photo sessions in and of itself were an interesting experience of it's own. I will share that story and those images with you all as soon as I get them!
If you were to ask me my favorite part of it all, I would have to say is the pride and joy on Jon's face whenever he sees the ring on my finger. My heart just cannot take that look.
So thank you all for the the best wishes and congratulations, it means so much to both Jon and myself. We love you all and are thankful for everyone who helped us get to this season in our lives. Here is to becoming the new Mr. & Mrs. Brekken!
I am so glad you stopped by. I cannot wait to hear from you!
